Curriculum Overview
Cultivating Connection Through Culture and Community
Our social–emotional curricular resources are designed to nurture children’s identity, sense of belonging, and emotional growth through culturally responsive, place-based learning. Rooted in the Raven Reflection Toolkit, the curriculum draws from community values, storytelling, and teachings through a project based approach. It provides educators, families, and communities with practical strategies, engaging activities, and intentional supports that help children build resilience, respectfulness and responsibility through our early childhood behavior expectations of We are Kind and We are Safe. It is aligned to early childhood PBIS – Pyramid Model. For more information on the Pyramid Model see the Overview to the right.
Raven Reflection Toolkit Foundation - Supporting Adults
Our work and community is built on supportive adults—families, elders, educators, language learners/speakers, and community members—who create nurturing environments with strong relationships, fostering all children’s identity, belonging, and social-emotional growth.
Tier 1 - Supports for All
Provides universal supports for all children by fostering strong relationships and culturally responsive environments—across classrooms, homes, schools, and outdoors—to nurture identity, belonging, and social-emotional growth.
Tier 2 - Supports for Some
Guidance Plans – Tier 2 provides focused supports for children who need a guidance plan with intentional instruction in self-regulation, emotional awareness, social relationships, and problem-solving to nurture positive behavior, identity, and belonging.
Tier 3 - Comprehensive Support (few)
Tier 3 provides a comprehensive wellness plan connecting school and home, ensuring individualized strengths-based interventions and supports that build skills while helping children with persistent challenges strengthen identity and understand their place in the community.
Celebration of Learning
Language learning is central to identity, belonging, and social-emotional growth. Developed by Beth Hill, through the Language Development & Evaluation Tool children and educators embark on a shared journey of listening, learning, and sharing language in meaningful ways. Each step—from greetings and introductions to seasonal activities and storytelling—honors community knowledge and connects learning to the land and culture.
